TL;DR: „Attio is a brilliant CRM for tech-savvy GTM teams who want to build their own data model. monday CRM connects sales with the rest of your organization – and scales with you."

    Two CRMs, Two Philosophies

Attio calls itself "AI-native" – built for modern go-to-market teams that need a flexible data model and aren't afraid of custom objects. monday CRM comes from the work management universe and connects sales with operations, delivery, and service.

Both tools have substance. But they come from completely different directions. Here's our honest comparison.

Attio – The AI-Native CRM for Builders

    Strengths

    • Object-based data model: Attio lets you define custom objects, attributes, and relationships – almost like a database with a CRM UI on top. For tech teams with complex data structures, this is a dream
    • Automatic data enrichment: Contacts and companies are automatically enriched with web data, LinkedIn info, and company data – no Clearbit subscription needed
    • AI-native workflows: AI attributes (e.g., "Classify this lead") and AI-powered automations are deeply built into the system
    • Modern UX/UI: Attio feels like a tool built in 2024 – fast, clean, keyboard-first
    • Strong free tier: Up to 3 seats free with real CRM functionality
    • Real-time sync: Email and calendar sync in real-time, not with delays

    Weaknesses

    • CRM only: After the deal closes, there's no project management, no service module, no delivery boards. You need other tools for the rest
    • Small ecosystem: Significantly fewer native integrations than monday. Much relies on Zapier/Make
    • No EU data residency: Servers in the US – Attio currently offers no EU hosting option
    • Young and fast-moving: The product evolves rapidly, but features change frequently too. Some enterprise features are still missing (SSO only from Pro, SAML only Enterprise)
    • Limited reporting: Dashboards are functional but not on monday or HubSpot level
    • No built-in calling/SMS: Telephony only via integrations

monday CRM – The All-in-One Platform

    Strengths

    • Sales + operations in one: From lead to deal to project handoff to delivery – all in one platform
    • Maximum flexibility: Custom fields, views, automations, and dashboards without limits
    • Part of the monday ecosystem: Seamless transition to Work Management, Dev, and Service
    • AI features: monday AI for email templates, deal summaries, intelligent board suggestions, and workflows
    • EU data residency: GDPR-compliant with EU server location
    • 225,000+ customers: Proven in enterprise environments with SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001

    Weaknesses

    • No object-based data model: monday CRM works with boards and columns – flexible, but not as deep as Attio's custom objects
    • No automatic data enrichment: Contact data must be enriched manually or via integration
    • Minimum 3 seats: More expensive than Attio for 1–2 person teams
    • Higher setup effort: More capabilities = more configuration upfront

    • After deal close, it should seamlessly transition to delivery or service
    • Your team is growing and you need a scalable system for multiple departments

    The Honest Assessment

Attio is one of the most exciting CRM products of recent years. The object-based data model, built-in data enrichment, and AI-native workflows feel like someone rethought CRM from scratch – which they did. For small, technical GTM teams who want a Notion-like CRM, Attio is hard to beat.

But: Most teams we advise need more than just CRM. They don't want to switch to another tool after closing a deal. They want sales, operations, and service living in one platform. And they want GDPR compliance without compromises.

For these teams, monday CRM is the strategically better choice – even if Attio is natively stronger in data modeling and enrichment.

    Criterion Winner
Data model & custom objects Attio
    Data enrichment Attio
    AI-native workflows Attio
    UX for tech teams Attio

Price from 5+ users monday CRM
    Scalability monday CRM

    Bonus: Combine Attio + monday?

We actually see hybrid setups in some teams: Attio as an intelligent contact database and prospecting tool, monday CRM for pipeline management and deal handoff. Via Make or both systems' APIs, contacts and deals can be synchronized. Not trivial – but for some teams, the best solution.

Not sure which CRM fits your team? We advise honestly – even when the answer isn't monday.
