TL;DR: „Close is an outbound beast for small sales teams. monday CRM connects sales with the rest of your organization."

    — Till Freitag

Two CRMs, two completely different worlds

Close is the CRM loved by outbound-obsessed sales teams – built-in calling, power dialer, SMS and email sequences in one tool. monday CRM comes from the work management space and connects sales with operations, service and project management.

Both are solid tools. But they solve fundamentally different problems. Here's our honest comparison.

    The Companies at a Glance

Close is intentionally small and bootstrapped – a focused tool for outbound teams. monday CRM is part of a multi-billion-dollar platform with a broad ecosystem.

    Close – the outbound specialist

    Strengths

    • Built-in Calling: Power dialer, predictive dialer and VoIP directly in the CRM – no third-party tools needed. This is Close's killer feature and no other CRM solves it this natively
    • Email Sequences: Automated multichannel sequences (email + calls + SMS) with real tracking
    • Speed-to-Lead: Everything is optimized for speed – fewer clicks, faster actions
    • Clean UI: No feature overload, just focus on the essentials: reach out, close the deal
    • Fair solo pricing: Starting at $9/month for solopreneurs, $49/seat for teams

    Weaknesses

    • Sales only: After the deal closes, Close ends. Project handoff, service, operations – you need other tools for that
    • US-focused: Servers in the US, no EU data residency – a concern for GDPR-conscious teams
    • Limited customization: Less flexible with custom objects and complex data structures
    • No ecosystem: Close stands alone – no native connection to project management or service
    • Reporting: Functional, but not on monday's level. For deeper analytics you'll need external BI tools

monday CRM – the all-in-one platform

    Strengths

    • Sales + Operations in one: From lead to project handoff to delivery – everything in one platform
    • Maximum flexibility: Custom fields, views, automations and dashboards without limits
    • Automations on every plan: Workflows, notifications and status changes via drag & drop
    • Part of the monday ecosystem: Seamless transition to Work Management, Dev and Service
    • AI features: monday AI for email templates, deal summaries and intelligent suggestions
    • EU Data Residency: GDPR-compliant with EU server location

    Weaknesses

    • No built-in calling: Telephony only via integrations (e.g. Aircall, Cloudya). No native power dialer
    • No native SMS: SMS sequences only through third-party providers
    • Higher setup effort: More possibilities = more configuration upfront
    • Minimum 3 seats: More expensive than Close for solo reps or two-person teams

    Pricing comparison 2026

    Close

    Plan Price/user/month Highlights
Solo $9 1 user, basic CRM
    Essentials $49 Pipelines, calling, email
Professional $99 Power dialer, sequences, custom activities
Enterprise $139 Predictive dialer, custom objects, advanced permissions

    Plan Price/user/month Highlights
    Basic €12 Contacts, deals, dashboards
    Standard €17 Email, automations, quotes
    Pro €28 Forecasting, sales analytics
Enterprise On request SSO, HIPAA, advanced permissions

Note: Close bills in USD, monday in EUR. With 3+ seats and multichannel usage, Close costs can add up quickly since features like Power Dialer are only available from the Professional plan.

When Close is the better choice

    • Your team consists of outbound sales reps who are on the phone all day
    • Built-in calling with power dialer is a must-have – not nice-to-have
    • You need multichannel sequences (email + call + SMS) in one tool
    • Your focus is on speed-to-lead and high call volume
    • You're a 1–10 person sales team with no other departments in the tool
    • GDPR and EU hosting are not a deciding factor for you

When monday CRM is the better choice

    • You want to unite sales and operations in one platform
    • After closing a deal, you need a seamless handoff to delivery
    • Your team is growing and you need a scalable system for multiple departments
    • GDPR and EU data residency are requirements
    • You already use monday.com for project management or dev
    • Visual dashboards and reporting matter to you
    • You solve telephony via an integration like Aircall – and that's fine

    The honest verdict

Close is better than any other CRM at one thing: outbound sales with a built-in phone. If your team makes 50+ calls a day, runs sequences across multiple channels and sales is your only use case – Close is hard to beat.

But: Most teams we advise need more than just sales. They don't want to switch to another tool after closing a deal. They want dashboards the CEO can understand. And they want GDPR compliance without compromise.

For those teams, monday CRM is the strategically better choice – even if it doesn't quite match Close when it comes to calling.

    Criterion Winner
    Outbound & Calling Close
    Sales + Operations monday CRM
    Multichannel Sequences Close
    Dashboards & Reporting monday CRM
Price for solo / 1–2 users Close
Price for 5+ users monday CRM
    Flexibility & Customization monday CRM
GDPR & EU Data Residency monday CRM
    Speed-to-Lead Close
    Scalability monday CRM

    Bonus: Combine Close + monday?

We actually see hybrid setups: Close for the outbound team, monday CRM for pipeline management and handoff to operations. Both systems can be synced via Make or Zapier. Not the simplest solution – but for some teams, it's the best one.

Not sure which CRM is right for you? We'll advise you honestly – even if the answer isn't always monday.
