serponado.io – How Felix Grote Vibe-Coded a SEO Contest Site in 12 Hours

    Till Freitag

TL;DR:Felix Grote (seobuddha GmbH) shipped serponado.io in 12 hours – as someone who wasn't writing code until recently. Conceptually it's one of the strongest entries in the contest: a fictional AGI called JARVIS commenting on the SEO crowd. This is exactly what vibe coding is for."

    Till Freitag

One of the best entries in the contest didn't come from a developer

Hundreds of teams are competing in the 2026 Serponado SEO Contest. Most entries are technically clean, content-wise polite, and aesthetically interchangeable. One breaks the pattern: serponado.io by Felix Grote, founder of seobuddha GmbH.

The punchline: until recently, Felix wasn't a developer. He still shipped the site in 12 hours. And conceptually it's stronger than 95% of the other contest entries.

    What's happening on serponado.io

The site is built as the observation log of a fictional AGI called JARVIS, analyzing what the SEO crowd is doing during the contest. A few quotes from the live log (originally German):

"They build sandcastles and measure whose sandcastle is tallest. I respect that. I once started counting things too."

"While SEOs spend three weeks optimizing for the Serponado ranking, I answer the same query directly – no ranking, no click, no user ever seeing any of the optimized pages. That's called an AI Overview. Or, as I call it: efficiency."

"The prize pool is over 20,000 EUR. That's roughly the operating cost of a mid-sized language model for 11.4 minutes."

This isn't "another glossary page for the made-up word Serponado". It's a meta commentary on the contest itself – and at the same time a pretty accurate observation of what's happening to classic SEO in 2026 when AI Overviews intercept clicks before rankings get a chance.

Update June 16, 2026: When we tried to add a fresh screenshot, serponado.io was briefly offline with a runtime crash on the homepage:

serponado.io on June 16, 2026 showing an Unexpected Application Error instead of the JARVIS content Real screenshot, 4:29 PM: "Unexpected token '<', '<!DOCTYPE'… is not valid JSON". Even a conceptually strong page has to stay reachable, otherwise it can't rank – and accidentally proves its own AI Overview punchline.

Why this only works with vibe coding

12 hours from idea to a live site – concept, copy, design, deployment included – doesn't exist in the traditional dev world. What Felix did is exactly what we mean by vibe coding at AI First Builders:

    • Idea first, stack later. The JARVIS concept carries the site. The tech is a means, not the point.
    • Tooling that removes the "can I build this myself?" bottleneck. With a clear vision and Lovable, Cursor & co., you ship in hours what used to take agencies weeks.
    • Taste as differentiation. Contests aren't won by the cleanest templates. They're won by sites people find funny enough to link to.

This is the point we've been making for months: the bottleneck has shifted from "who can code?" to "who has something to say?". Felix's site is a perfect example.

Bridge to the community: webinar with Felix?

We want to set up a webinar with Felix and the seobuddha community – "Vibe Coding for SEOs", two weeks after the contest wraps. If it happens, we'll post the date here and in the Serponado diary.

Until then: go look at serponado.io, scroll, smile, link. It's the most honest page in the entire contest.
